3GC formed in Rio de Janeiro in 1991 with Gugu Liberato, Carlos Alberto de Nóbrega, and Conrado Bonfim. Their debut album came out that same year, and the track "É Minha Vida" became a hit in Brazil. The song's straightforward declaration of personal freedom connected with listeners across the country.
In 1993, the band's lineup shifted when Conrado Bonfim left and Beto Barbosa joined. They kept recording, putting out albums like "Abre a Janela," "Só Pra Você," and "Nação." Their music moved between samba rhythms and slower ballads, and they toured in Latin America and Europe.
Some of their lyrics addressed social issues, which drew both support and criticism. The song "Não Quero Saber" was one example that sparked discussion. The band's activity eventually slowed, but "É Minha Vida" remains a recognizable song from that period in Brazilian pop.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
