3rd Eye formed in New York City in the mid-1980s, with vocalist and guitarist Sully Erna joined by bassist Matt Sheppard and drummer Fred Coury. Their debut album 'Lucid' came out in 1992, featuring the song 'If It Ain't Rough It Ain't Right' that became their most recognizable track.
The band saw lineup changes over time. Sheppard left in 1994, replaced by Jason Newsted, and Coury departed in 2000 with Ronnie Vannucci Jr. taking over on drums. Erna remained the consistent presence through these shifts.
Other songs in their catalog include 'Prince,' 'Symbol,' and 'Troopers Reprezent.' They released several albums after 'Lucid,' including 'Moon Baby,' 'Wake Up Call,' and 'Universal.'
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
