3x3 Eyes formed in 1994 as a trio with guitarist and vocalist Masaya, bassist Toshiya, and drummer Hironobu. Their name came from a manga series, which gives you a sense of where their interests might have been. They put out albums like "The Crystallization of the Soul" and "Distance," and the song "Distance" from 1999 became one of their better-known tracks.
Their music had an ethereal quality, with Masaya's vocals and lyrics that leaned toward the introspective. Songs like "Holy Road" and "In a Lost Town" show that side of their work. They kept at it until disbanding in 2011, leaving behind a catalog that includes "Kaze o tsukamaete" and "Mamotte Ageru (Not Yet Ready to Fly)."
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
