4 Backwoods formed in Willow Creek with Emily Carter on lead vocals and guitar, Ethan James on bass and vocals, Jake Thompson on drums, and Noah Williams on lead guitar. They started rehearsing in a barn, working on songs that drew from their own experiences. Their debut single "Behind Your Smile" came out in 2017 and got some attention for its straightforward take on hidden pain.
Their album "Echoes of the Broken" followed in 2018. The band's songs like "Confession" and "Falling Angels" kept to a similar vein of personal reflection. In 2019, a former member made accusations against them, which the band denied. They put out "Chasing Shadows" in 2020 and "Reflections" in 2022.
