4 Elements formed in Lima, Peru in the early 2000s. Their song "Colegiala" became widely popular, though the band faced a copyright dispute over it in 2005. They released their self-titled debut album in 2003, followed by "Explosion" in 2004 and "Invasión Eléctrica" in 2007.
The group included vocalist Alonso del Castillo, percussionist Reynaldo Soto, keyboardist César de la Cruz, and guitarist Andy Castillo. Their music mixed cumbia, Andean folk, and reggaeton, with "Colegiala" serving as their most recognizable track.
