4 Eskinas formed in Peru in 1994 with Jorge "Coco" Tafur on vocals, Javier "Chechi" Salazar on guitar, Jorge "Chachi" Delgado on bass, and Arturo "Tutu" Aranda on drums. Their debut album 'Calla' came out in 1996, and the title track became a national hit. The song 'Calla' blends Peruvian rhythms with rock elements, and other tracks like 'Carnada nacional' and 'El Coronel' show their range.
After 'Calla', they released albums like 'Tiempo' in 1999 and 'Esquina 10' in 2002, which incorporated pop and reggae influences. Their sound shifted with 'La Isla' in 2006, using more electronic and orchestral arrangements, then returned to acoustic and traditional styles on 'Huellas' in 2013. Songs such as 'Este Sistema' and 'Muerte' reflect their lyrical themes.
In 2004, they faced plagiarism accusations related to a song on 'Esquina 10', which were later dropped. The band continued performing, known for energetic live shows. Their music, particularly tracks like 'El Espejo' and 'El Chou', remains part of Peru's musical landscape.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
