4° Ideal formed in São Paulo in 2014, with members Gabriel Thomaz, Rafael Ramos, Felipe Abreu, and Leonardo Lellis. Their debut EP was called 'A Jornada,' which came out in 2015. They've put out other records like 'O Silêncio da Cidade' in 2017 and 'O Vento que Move as Folhas' in 2020.
Their songs include 'A Jornada,' 'Bem Aventurado,' and 'Ipanema Point.' The music has a quiet, atmospheric quality that draws from dream pop and shoegaze, with Thomaz handling vocals and lyrics that often turn inward.
Some listeners found their style too unconventional or introverted, but they kept working with the same four members. Their sound stayed consistent across those releases, built around Ramos's guitar work, Abreu's drumming, and Lellis's basslines.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
