4-Motion came out of the Dutch dance scene in the early 1990s with a sound that pulled from soul and funk. Their 1994 single "Het Paradijs" became a major hit in the Netherlands and found listeners internationally. The track's melody was later the subject of plagiarism accusations from Italian composer Paolo Conte, which the band denied.
Harold Vink handled vocals, Rob van der Meulen worked on production and songwriting, and Rick Tolsma played bass. They put out more singles like "Come Together" and "The Way You Make Me Feel" through the rest of the decade, gradually folding in trance and progressive house elements as dance music changed around them.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
