4 While formed in Porto Alegre in 2001 as a quartet with Felipe Catto on vocals and guitar, Dedé Weiller on guitar, Ricky Vallen on bass, and Beto Pimentel on drums. Their debut album came out in 2005, featuring the song "À Sua Ausência," which became widely known in Brazil. They worked across MPB, rock, pop, and funk without settling into one style.
After guitarist Dedé Weiller left in 2010, Diogo Stocco joined the band. They released five studio albums between 2005 and 2018, including "O Amor em Tempos de Cólera" and "Futuro Provisório." Songs like "Apesar da Distância" and "Recomeçar" continued their focus on relationships and personal reflection.
In 2020, 4 While announced an indefinite hiatus. The members have pursued solo work since then, though their recordings from the 2000s and 2010s still get regular play.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
