40 Graus formed in Belo Horizonte in 1980. Their debut album, '40 Graus à Sombra da Cruz,' came out in 1983. The band's core lineup included Beto Guedes on vocals and guitar, Nando Reis on vocals and guitar, Samuel Rosa on guitar, Renato Piau on bass, and Milton Souza on drums.
Songs like 'Ainda Sou o Mesmo Homem' and 'Chora Alma Minha' became staples for Brazilian rock listeners. Nando Reis left the band in 1988 to work on solo projects. They kept recording through the 1990s and early 2000s, putting out albums such as 'Vôo Noturno' and 'O Fio da Navalha.'
In 2010, Nando Reis publicly criticized Beto Guedes over how the band's finances were handled. They released 'Vinte Anos' in 2005. Other songs in their catalog include 'Menina Morena' and 'Coração Bandido.'
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
