404 Soliderz formed in Marseille in the early 2000s, a group of childhood friends with Algerian immigrant backgrounds. Djamel "Shtar" Bousbata, Sofiane "Sof" Hammani, and Nadir "Niro" Elghozzi started making music together, with Bousbata handling lyrics, Hammani on vocals, and Elghozzi producing the beats.
Their 2006 single "Fi-Shit" brought them attention with its direct lyrics about police and social issues. The song sparked debate, with some finding it too confrontational while others saw it as reflecting real experiences. They followed with albums like their self-titled debut in 2006, "Feu d'artifice" in 2007, and "Sanguine" in 2013.
They worked with other French rappers including Booba, Oxmo Puccino, and Soprano. Their music combined rap with electronic production, and tracks like "Walk Like A Soldier" showed their style of mixing aggressive delivery with layered beats.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
