420 Proof formed in Los Angeles with Anthony Casillas on vocals, Ian Underwood on guitar, Justin Rivera on turntables, Jon Brown on bass, and Matt Rodriguez on drums. Their debut album 'Unknown' came out in 2005, followed by 'The Struggle Within' in 2008 and 'Rise of the Underdog' in 2012. They put out a self-titled album in 2017.
Their songs include '12/21/12', '420 + 246', 'Anti-Life', and 'Between Demons & Devils'. The band's name and some lyrics led to drug allegations, which they denied. They also had label disputes over artistic control.
Some members dealt with personal issues including addiction and mental health challenges. The band took a brief hiatus at one point. Their music mixes rock with hip-hop beats and electronic textures.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
