48 Rooms formed in Los Angeles with Matt Gerding on vocals and guitar, David Gerding on drums, Matt Taylor on bass, and Klayton Heald on keyboards. They put out their first album in 2004, followed by 'Two Aces' in 2007. That title track became their most recognizable song.
Their sound mixed indie rock with electronic touches, which sometimes drew criticism for being hard to pin down. They kept at it anyway, releasing 'Luxury of Time' in 2011 and 'Holy Hell' in 2016. The later record leaned back toward heavier guitars.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
