4AA Ideologia came out of São Paulo in the early 2000s with a hardcore punk sound that felt raw and direct. The original lineup had Max Max on vocals, Dudu and Fábio on guitars, Gordo on bass, and Rodrigo on drums. Their music moved fast, with distorted vocals and a driving rhythm that pulled from hardcore, punk, and thrash metal.
Their lyrics often dealt with social and political issues like poverty and inequality, which sometimes put them at odds with critics. The song 'Cecília' drew particular attention for its graphic depiction of violence against a woman. They put out seven studio albums between 2003 and 2015, starting with 'Ideologia' and ending with 'Brasil 200'.
Lineup changes and internal conflicts were part of their story, but their straightforward approach to hardcore punk found an audience in Brazil. They weren't trying to smooth things out or make their message more palatable.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
