4AM formed in Monterrey, Mexico in 2017 with Guillermo Garza on vocals and guitar, Luis Ángel Garza on bass, Daniel Vázquez on drums, and Jorge Martínez on keyboards. They put out their self-titled debut album the following year, which included the single "No Te Quiere."
That song became their breakout, connecting with listeners who recognized its straightforward take on heartbreak. In 2020 they followed up with a second album called "Despierto" and another single, "Tu Último Día."
There was some noise in 2019 about a plagiarism claim involving one of their melodies, but it didn't stick. They kept working. The band's material has stayed in that lane of direct, melodic pop-rock about relationships, built around Garza's voice and the four-piece setup.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
