4i4 formed in 2014 when Dustin Lynch, Lucas Hoge, and Justin David met at a songwriter's retreat. Justin Ebach joined soon after to complete the lineup. They signed with MCA Nashville in 2016 and released their debut album "Whiskey and Water" the following year.
That first album included "Country Life," a song about small-town living that became one of their better-known tracks. Their self-titled second album came out in 2019, featuring another song called "My Horse" with Filipe Masetti and Shelagh Haney.
The band faced some early criticism from traditional country listeners who weren't sure about their approach. They kept touring and building an audience anyway, playing shows with the kind of harmonies that work well in country music.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
