4i4 Country Life formed in 2007 in rural Kentucky with four members: Brandon Rogers on lead vocals and guitar, Ashleigh McAlister on bass and vocals, Cole Turner on drums and vocals, and Jessica Miller on rhythm guitar and vocals. They started as an independent band, which meant handling the usual financial and logistical challenges that come with that territory.
Their debut album 'Country Roots' came out in 2010, followed by 'Heartstrings' in 2014 and 'Unbreakable' in 2018. Songs like 'Believe In Love' and 'Bullfighter' show their straightforward approach to country themes. In 2012, Rogers' public support for same-sex marriage drew some backlash from conservative listeners, but the band didn't back down from that position.
They kept playing and recording, with their later work incorporating some folk and rock touches while staying grounded in country. The four-piece lineup remained consistent through those years, with each member contributing vocals alongside their primary instruments.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
