4x7 formed in Bogotá in 1997 with Juan Carlos Coronel on vocals, Jimmy Montaño on drums, Alejandro Bermúdez on bass, and Ricardo Cifuentes on guitar. They started playing local clubs and bars, eventually releasing their self-titled debut album in 2000.
Their song "Por Amor" became a hit, though in 2003 they faced a legal dispute over the rights to it. They kept recording through the 2000s, putting out albums like "Hoy" in 2002, "Por Amor" in 2004, and "Entre el Cielo y el Infierno" in 2009.
Their music mixed pop with Latin rhythms, built around Coronel's vocals and the band's straightforward instrumentation. They never became a household name internationally, but they maintained a steady output for over a decade from their base in Colombia.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
