5 BARRA 7 formed in São Paulo in 1984 as a Brazilian pop rock band. Their song 'Ursinho Pufinho' became a breakout hit that propelled them to national attention. They released several albums including 'Ursinho Pufinho' in 1990 and 'Farinha do Mesmo Saco' in 1994.
In the mid-1990s, the band had a legal dispute with Disney over the use of the Winnie the Pooh character in 'Ursinho Pufinho.' The disagreement ended with the band changing the song's lyrics. Guitarist Rodrigo Suricato left the group in 1991 to pursue solo work.
Their catalog includes songs like 'A Feira,' 'A Vaca e o Macaco,' and 'Batata.' They recorded a live album called '10 Anos ao Vivo' in 2004. Over time, their sound incorporated elements beyond their initial pop rock approach.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
