5 Chá formed in Salvador, Bahia in the late 1990s with Paulo Sérgio on vocals, Fábio Rocha on guitar, Cristiano on bass, Wado on drums, and Jonga on percussion. They released two studio albums: their self-titled debut in 2001, followed by "Não Fui Eu" in 2003.
Their second album's title track became a national hit, though its lyrics about a man denying infidelity drew criticism for being misogynistic.
The band broke up in 2005, citing internal struggles and Paulo Sérgio's substance abuse issues. They reunited briefly in 2010 to record a live album, but haven't released new material since.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
