5 de Vez formed in Rio de Janeiro in the early 1990s. Their self-titled debut album came out in 1993 and included the song 'Ela,' which became widely known in Brazil.
In the years that followed, they put out records like 'Praia do Sonho' in 1995 and 'A Bossa de Antigamente' in 1998. The band's sound drew from Brazilian rhythms while incorporating other styles.
They faced a lawsuit in 2000 over the authorship of 'Ela,' which they eventually won. Later albums included 'Onde a Cidade Bate o Mar' in 2003 and 'Terra do Meu Céu' in 2007.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
