Four teenagers from Sydney started posting acoustic covers on YouTube in 2011. Luke Hemmings, Michael Clifford, Calum Hood, and Ashton Irwin called themselves 5 Seconds of Summer. They signed with One Direction's management the next year and put out an EP called 'Unplugged.' A single from that EP, 'She Looks So Perfect,' got them noticed outside Australia.
Their self-titled debut album came out in 2014 and did well on charts in several countries. It had songs like 'Good Girls' and 'Amnesia.' They toured a lot after that, playing shows they called 'Rock Out with Your Socks Out' and 'Sounds Live Feels Live.' Their music changed a bit as they got older. The 2015 album 'Sounds Good Feels Good' was more serious than the first one.
They took a break in 2018. When they came back, they released 'Youngblood,' which had a hit single with the same name. Another album, 'Calm,' came out in 2020. Some of their songs are called 'California,' 'Falling In Love,' and 'Something More.'
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
