55 Noix formed in São Paulo in 1981, playing hardcore punk when the style was still new in Brazil. Their debut single 'O Terror de SP' came out in 1984 and gave them a nickname that stuck. The song's blunt energy connected with a certain part of the city's youth.
Their records, like 1987's 'Pior que a Fome' and 1990's 'O Mundo Não Presta', mixed hardcore with some thrash and local sounds. The band's lineup included vocalist Rick Ferreira, guitarists Geléia and Chico, bassist Chuck, and drummer Clairão. They played with people like João Gordo from Ratos de Porão. 55 Noix stopped in 1993.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
