The 57th Street Rogue Dog Villians formed in Seattle in the early 1990s with Aaron Sprinkle on vocals, Jason Martin on guitar, Mike Errico on bass, and Mike McCready on drums. They put out three albums between 1994 and 2000: a self-titled debut, then 'Keep Right' and 'Moon Dog.'
Their sound pulled from funk and rock, and songs like 'It's on Now' and 'Let's Get Fucked Up' had a raw, direct energy. That straightforward approach sometimes drew criticism, but it also connected with listeners who appreciated the lack of polish.
After 2000, the band's activity slowed, but those three records from the '90s remain their main body of work. They were a Seattle group that operated outside the grunge conversation, making music that was rowdy and uncomplicated.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
