5'nizza formed in 2000 with Serhiy Babkin on vocals and guitar, Andriy Zaporozhets rapping, and Oleksandr Symonenko playing multiple instruments. Their first album came out in 2003, featuring the song 'Soldat' which became widely known in Ukraine. They put out another album called 'O.S.T.' in 2007 before splitting up that same year.
The band got back together in 2015. Their music mixed rap with folk and rock elements, and songs like 'Big Badda-Boom' and 'Vesna' showed their range from energetic tracks to more melodic ones. They wrote in both Ukrainian and Russian, which helped them reach listeners across different parts of the country.
'Soldat' remains their most recognized song, with lyrics about a soldier's experience that resonated with many Ukrainians. Other tracks like 'Jamming' and 'Ehj, gde ty?' had a more straightforward, rhythmic quality. Their work didn't follow one clear genre path, which made their catalog feel varied rather than predictable.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
