6 Tre Gangsta came out of South Central Los Angeles in the early 1990s with Tray Dee, Bam Bino, and Big D. The group put out albums like 'Cruisin' N' Shootin'' and 'Streets of Compton' through the '90s and early 2000s.
Their music documented neighborhood realities in a raw West Coast rap style. Songs like 'Fresh' and 'Dem Jays' gave them a following, though their lyrics and associations sometimes brought them trouble with authorities. They kept recording despite that, with Bam Bino handling production and Tray Dee writing most of the verses.
By the 2000s, their output slowed, but their early work stayed in circulation among West Coast rap listeners who remembered that period. The three members each brought something different: Tray Dee's delivery, Bam Bino's beats, Big D's energy on stage. Their records didn't smooth over the rough edges of where they were from.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
