60 Watts formed in São Paulo in 1985 with Marcelo Nova on vocals, Tadeu Patolla on guitar, Sidnei Chiodi on bass, and Beto Brasília on drums. Their self-titled debut album came out in 1987 and included the track 'Maravilhado (Wonder),' which became one of their best-known songs.
Their lyrics sometimes touched on political and social themes, which drew criticism from conservative circles at the time. The band put out several albums through the early 1990s, including 'O Apagão do Brasil' in 1988 and 'Basquetebol' in 1993.
Another song, 'Onde Você Está,' also appears among their popular recordings. They were part of a wave of Brazilian rock acts in the late 1980s and early 1990s that brought new energy to the scene.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
