61 Seggundos started playing in Brazil around 2008. Their song 'Qual É a Diferença' got attention for its mix of samba, funk, and batuque rhythms. The band included vocalist Léo Cavallo, guitarist Will Bueno, bassist Leo Maia, and drummer Joao 'JP' Parahyba.
Cavallo's lyrics often touched on social inequality and political issues. The band didn't back down from these themes.
They released several albums including O Som da Resistência in 2008, Raça Brasil in 2010, and Não Existe Amor em SP in 2013. A live recording from Circo Voador came out in 2018. Their music connected with younger listeners who appreciated both the rhythms and the social commentary.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
