620 formed in Nashville in 1999, taking their name from the street address of their first studio. The band included Matt Hammitt on vocals and guitar, Brian Bunn on lead guitar, Brad Avery on bass, and Christopher Morse on drums. They worked on their sound there before releasing their debut album, 'The Distance,' in 2003.
That album contained 'Wild World,' a song that became their biggest hit. Its melody and lyrics connected with listeners, giving the band a wider audience. They followed it with several more albums over the next fifteen years, including 'Walk' and 'The Bright and Broken.'
In 2006, Hammitt faced a serious vocal cord disorder that required surgery and rehabilitation before he could sing again. The band also navigated discussions about their Christian faith in relation to their music. They kept recording and performing, with a song like 'アカイト (akaito)' showing their continued work.
By the late 2010s, 620 had become less active, with members focusing on individual projects. They still played occasional shows, but their catalog, anchored by that early hit, stands as their main body of work.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
