64revolt formed in Los Angeles in 1999 with vocalist Andre "Dre" Busby, guitarist Jeff "JB" Brown, bassist Salvador "Sal" Perez, and drummer Marcus "Mace" Harris. Their music pulls from hip-hop, funk, soul, and rock, often with a boogie beat and lyrics that touch on social issues.
They released four albums between 2003 and 2014, starting with "The Boogie Revolution." Their breakout single "Scrub Me Mama With a Boogie Beat" reached the top 10 on the R&B charts. Other songs like "Adore Me," "Blue Baby," and "Garden Party" show their range.
Their outspoken lyrics drew criticism at times, but they kept making music with a social edge. Beyond recording, they worked with organizations on causes like poverty and education.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
