7-10 Split formed in Nashville in the early 2000s with brothers Chris and Michael Lipham and their friend John Berryman. Their debut album came out in 2004, and a year later they had a radio hit with 'I Love Your Mom,' a song that played its humor straight enough to catch on outside their local scene.
They put out three more albums over the next decade, with song titles like 'Chainsaw Death Riot' and 'Disowning Jason' suggesting their lyrics didn't always stick to country conventions. The band's playful tone sometimes drew criticism, but they kept writing what felt right to them.
Chris Lipham handled vocals and guitar, Michael played bass and sang, and John Berryman was on drums. They haven't released new music in a while, but songs like 'Carpe Diem' and 'Coathanger' still pop up in their setlists when they play shows.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
