7 Graus formed in Recife, Brazil in 1998, with Alessandro Biaggi on vocals, Fábio Brás on guitar, Sandro Haick on bass, and Paulo Júnior on drums. Their name translates to "7 Degrees," referencing a biblical concept of spiritual development. They released their self-titled debut album in 2003, which included the song "Arrependido." That track became their breakthrough hit, connecting with listeners through its themes of remorse and redemption.
Over the next decade or so, they put out several more albums including "Recomeçar" in 2005, "Amor e Louvor" in 2007, "Acima do Sol" in 2010, "Incendeia" in 2013, and "Insano" in 2016. Guitarist Bruno Guimarães joined the lineup at some point. Other songs like "Dilema" and "Entre Nós Dois" also found an audience.
As a Christian rock band in Brazil, they sometimes faced skepticism from the mainstream music industry. In 2015, they drew criticism for performing at a church whose pastor had made negative comments about homosexuality. The band responded by saying they believed in separating art from religion.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
