7 Seconds of Love came out of the late 1980s rock scene with a raw, energetic sound. Their song 'Cocaine Kate' became an anthem that got them noticed. The band was led by Billy Low, with Mark Taylor on guitar, Chris Jones on bass, and Dave Smith on drums.
They put out albums like 'Cocaine Kate' in 1989, 'Seven Deadly Sins' in 1991, and 'Third Coming' in 1994. Their 1997 album 'Redemption' included the single 'Phoenix Rising.' Other songs in their catalog include 'Danger Of Death,' 'First Drink Of The Day,' and 'Let's Get Wasted.'
Low had well-documented struggles with substance abuse that affected the band's momentum and public image. The group disbanded in 2001, but 'Cocaine Kate' still gets played.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
