7.7 Graus started as a duo of brothers Marcelo and Alexandre Magno Abrão in Brasília around 1983. They worked in a pop and rock style with some Brazilian Popular Music touches. Their cover of Los Hermanos' "Anna Julia" in 1988 became a hit across Brazil, known for its harmonies and emotional pull.
After Marcelo Abrão died in a car accident in 1991, Alexandre kept the band going. They put out albums like No Mundo da Lua in 1991 and Ave Noturna in 1994, and kept recording covers like "Leave all out the Rest" and "Outro Lugar" alongside original tracks such as "Luz das Estrelas" and "Pra onde eu vou."
The group's lineup shifted over time, with musicians like Alimara Carvalho on keyboards, Otávio Faria on drums, and Paulo Vilela on bass joining in. They stayed active into the 2000s, releasing a 15-year anniversary album in 2000.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
