7grani formed in 2010 as a seven-piece Italian collective, with the name referencing the seven grains that make up their lineup. Their original members included Lorenzo Vizzini on vocals and guitar, Federico Bianco on guitar, Sergio Trovalusci on bass, Giorgio Tebaldi on drums, Claudio Robbiano on keyboards, Davide Rizzuto on violin, and Massimiliano Morabito on accordion. Over time, Morabito left and was replaced by violinist Elisabetta Bosio and violist Alberto Raso.
Their debut single "Abbi Cura" came out in 2014, followed by three albums: the self-titled '7grani' in 2015, 'Il primo giorno' in 2017, and 'Senso Comune' in 2020. Songs like "Cuori Metropolitani" and "Parappappa'" show their blend of folk, pop, and classical touches, built around harmonies and introspective lyrics.
The lineup shifts and personal adjustments that come with touring haven't kept them from putting out records every few years.
