8 Femmes

8 Femmes formed in Paris in the late 1980s with eight musicians: Marie-France on vocals, Catherine on piano, Christine on bass, Dominique on guitar, Françoise on drums, Irène on accordion, Joëlle on percussion, and Véronique on saxophone. Their debut album came out in 1989 and included the song 'A Quoi Sert de Vivre Libre,' which became a hit in France.

They released several albums through the 1990s, like 'La Vie En Rose' in 1991, 'Les Enfants du Paradis' in 1993, and 'Folies Bergère' in 1995. Other songs in their catalog include 'Il N'y a Pas D'amour Heureux,' 'Message Personnel,' and 'Papa T'es Plus Dans L'coup.'

As a group of women playing instruments and singing, they faced some skepticism early on about whether they could sustain success. They kept performing and recording, putting out compilations like 'Anthologie' in 1997 and 'Le Best Of' in 2005.
