Archive material and source history
8 Weeks Dead formed in San Diego in 2007, playing a mix of metalcore, deathcore, and melodic hardcore. Their early lineup included vocalist Ethan McCarthy, guitarists Ben Nicholas and Ryan Jeavons, bassist Jason Jones, and drummer Ethan Reyes. They released their debut album 'In Darkness, We Are One' in 2010, which helped them build a following through touring.
Their music sometimes drew criticism for dark themes, like the graphic imagery in 'Buried Alive.' They followed up with albums 'The Weight of the World' in 2012 and 'Death Ate My Soul' in 2015. In 2017, McCarthy left the band, and the remaining members continued as a quartet, releasing 'The Narrowing Path' in 2019.
