80 Rock formed in São Paulo in 1980. The band included Serginho Herval on vocals, Ricardo Pontes on guitar, Luis Fernando Borges on bass, and Fabiano "Dicão" Baggio on drums. They released their debut album in 1986.
Their 1988 album "Asas Para Voar" gave them their breakthrough, with the title track becoming their most recognizable song. Other tracks like "Felicidade" and "Não Desista Agora" also found an audience. Their lyrics sometimes carried social commentary that drew attention.
In 1994, they released "O Último Rock" after the death of guitarist Ricardo Pontes. They put out a tribute album in 1998. The band's music from that period, including songs like "Noites Sem Fim" and "Quatro Cantos De Lugar Nenhum," remains part of Brazil's rock landscape.
