812 Gramas formed in Brazil and released their self-titled debut album in 1984. The band was led by singer Augusto Licks and guitarist Gustavo Drummond, with a lineup that included Ricardo Leão on bass, Marcelo Lessa on drums, and Marcelo Di Pietro on keyboards. Their music mixed post-punk and new wave with Brazilian rhythms.
One of their early songs, "Estátuas No Jardim," drew attention for its political commentary during a conservative period in Brazil. They also recorded an acoustic version of their material in 1996.
After taking a break during the 1990s, 812 Gramas started playing together again in 2006. Their catalog includes songs like "Por Si" alongside their better-known tracks.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
