88MM Metal Bullets formed in Norway during the early 1990s, part of that country's black metal scene. Their name references the caliber of machine gun used in the Columbine High School massacre, which set a confrontational tone from the start. The band's debut album was called 'Black Metal', a title that also appears among their top songs.
Their music is built on abrasive guitars, thunderous drums, and guttural vocals. Lyrics often dealt with themes of violence and misanthropy. Stage shows sometimes included pyrotechnics and other provocative elements, which led to arrests and venue bans in some cases.
