9 Days formed in Los Angeles in the late 1990s with John Hampson on vocals and guitar, Brian Desveaux on guitar, Josh Camp on bass, and Scott Underwood on drums. Their self-titled debut album came out in 2000 and went platinum, largely on the strength of the single "Funeral For A Love." That song got heavy radio play and reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.
After that initial success, the band went through some rough patches. Hampson was arrested for drug possession in 2002, which led to a hiatus. Desveaux and Camp left the group around that time. Hampson kept the name going with new members, including guitarists Jason Gibson and Ben Moody, and put out three more albums: "The Long Division" in 2003, "Daylight" in 2008, and "Sacred" in 2009.
Those later records didn't match the commercial peak of the debut, but they kept the same emotional tone. Songs like "257 Weeds," "A Cold New Year," and "Bitter" continued in the vein of straightforward, heart-on-sleeve rock that first connected with listeners.
