Archive material and source history
9 de Espadas formed in São Paulo in 1998 with Luciano Camargo on vocals and guitar, Renegado on bass, Fabio Luís on drums, and Fábio Tavares on guitar. Their debut album came out in 2001, titled after the song 'Não Dá Pra Viver Assim.' That track, a ballad about life's harsh realities, connected with listeners and helped define their early sound.
A song called 'A Carta' criticizing government economic policies drew backlash from conservative politicians. The band kept writing about themes like poverty and inequality on later albums such as 'Efeito Colateral' in 2003 and 'Dois Lados' in 2006.
Fábio Tavares left the group in 2008. The remaining trio of Camargo, Renegado, and Luís continued, releasing 'Fachada' in 2018. Other songs in their catalog include 'A Qualquer Preço,' 'A Vida Sem Você,' and 'Amor de Verdade.'
