9 Luigis formed in Buenos Aires around 2010, playing folk-rock with cumbia rhythms. Their lineup included Juan Pablo "Mauri" Mariño on vocals and guitar, Federico "Fredy" Bucci on lead guitar, Juan Manuel "Javi" Pini on accordion and keyboards, Pablo "Pablito" Iturbe on bass, and Nicolás "Nico" Melo on drums.
They released their self-titled debut album in 2011, followed by "A Tu Lado" in 2014, which featured the song of the same name. In 2015, there were some plagiarism accusations regarding "A Tu Lado," though the band maintained their innocence. Later albums included "Soy Loco por Ti" in 2017 and "Historias de Amor" in 2022.
Their songs like "Bufones," "Fiesta Verde," and "Siete Cosas Buenas" show their mix of folk-rock with Latin American influences. They've toured in Argentina and other parts of Latin America, playing to full crowds at times.
