A Banda de Moroni formed in 1984 in the city of Moroni, in Brazil's Rio Grande do Sul state. They were led by vocalist and guitarist Beto Guedes. Their debut album came out in 1986, and it included the song "Sem dizer porque," which became their most recognizable track.
That song, "Sem dizer porque," connected with listeners in a way that defined the band's early period. The group faced some accusations of plagiarism around that time, with critics suggesting similarities between their hit and another artist's work. Beto Guedes also dealt with personal struggles that contributed to lineup changes and periods when the band wasn't active.
After disbanding in 1995, A Banda de Moroni reunited in 2003 for concerts. They've continued to release music since then, including albums like "Vinte Anos" in 2006 and "Acústico" in 2015.
