A five-piece band that mixed hip-hop beats with axé and funk rhythms for two decades.
For a good sense of their mix, try "O Jogo Acabou" or "A terra do nunca."
They caught on with that 2002 single "Vagabundo," which became a hit in Brazil and led to albums like Na Base and Na Veia. Songs like "O Jogo Acabou" and "Diário" show their particular blend of styles, and they kept putting out records all the way through Troco Likes in 2015 and No Balanço do Groove in 2020. They weren't just a local thing either, they toured internationally in Europe, North America, and Latin America, known for energetic live shows.
A Base formed in Brasília in the early 2000s with five members: Bruno on vocals, Giba on bass, Leandro on drums, Marcelo on guitar, and Guilherme on keyboard. They started playing local clubs and underground events before their sound caught on, and they maintained a consistent output over two decades.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
