A Beacon School formed in Huntington, New York in 2010 with Thomas Mullar III on vocals and guitar, Jacob Gossett on bass and vocals, and Jonathan Mullar on drums. They put out their first EP, 'The Distance Between Us,' in 2012. Their debut album 'The Way We Were' came out in 2014, and the single 'It's Late' from that record got some attention.
They've released a few more albums since then, including 'Erase the Lines' in 2016, 'Hush' in 2018, and 'Just a Boy' in 2021. Their songs like 'Algernon' and 'It's Late' have a kind of dreamy, introspective quality that some listeners connected with.
There was some criticism about their live shows being quiet or their music being too moody, but they kept making records. They're one of those bands that built a following without much mainstream noise.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
