A New York metal band whose songs like 'Liberation Of A Giant' blended social themes with relentless energy.
For a good sense of their range, put on 'Autonomy' and then 'The Cleansing Apparatus.' The first one's a staple, the second one shows how they kept pushing.
They came out of New York City in the early 2000s with a sound that pulled thrash metal's intensity together with melodic elements. You can hear that mix on 'Liberation Of A Giant' and 'Omega' from their catalog. Their lyrics often tackled social and political ground, which wasn't always comfortable, but it gave their music a specific point of view.
They formed with Xander Kane on vocals and Ethan James on guitar, putting out 'Autonomy' in 2005. That was followed by 'Insanity Ignites' in 2008 and 'The Edge of Chaos' in 2012, with lineup shifts along the way but Kane and James staying at the center. They toured hard and were known for energetic live shows.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
