A Gota Suspensa formed in Florianópolis in 1999 with Fabio Brum on vocals and guitar, Pedro Coelho on bass, Thiago Mattar on drums, and André Louzada on keyboards. They put out their first album, As Aventuras do Homem Arame, in 2002, which included the title track that became something of an anthem.
Their sound mixed rock, folk, and electronica in ways that didn't always sit comfortably with everyone. The lyrics tended toward the introspective and sometimes political, which sparked some debate at the time. They followed up with Para Todos os Monstros in 2005 and Do Tamanho do Mundo in 2009.
Later albums like Canções de Amor e Guerra from 2013 continued in that vein, with songs like A Gota and Pourquoi showing their range. They built a following of listeners who appreciated that they didn't smooth out their edges.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
