Archive material and source history
A Letter to You came together in the Midwest with Dustin Dwyer on vocals and guitar, John Campbell on bass and vocals, and Dan Judd on drums. Their sound had some of the straightforward rock and folk textures you might expect from that part of the country, but they worked with producer Ed Ackerson and engineer Bonzai Caruso to give it a particular shape.
They put out their first album, 'Harvest Moon,' in 2015. A few years later, 'A Midwest Sunrise' arrived in 2018, which included the song of the same name. That track, along with others like 'Hour By Hour' and 'For Just Tonight,' became central to their sets. Their third album, 'The Weight of the World,' came out in 2022.
Like a lot of bands starting out, they dealt with the usual financial pressures and some early lineup shuffles. There was also a copyright issue over a song title in 2018 that got sorted out without much fuss. They were known for a direct, unvarnished live show that connected with people who followed them.
