A Light Divided formed in 2014 with Jimmy P. Brown II on vocals and guitar, Patrick Carney on bass and vocals, Jared Cannon on drums and vocals, and Matt Stephens on guitar and vocals. Their debut single "Fear of Heights" came out that year, followed by a self-titled album in 2015 that included that track and another called "Mystery."
Matt Stephens left the band in 2016, and guitarist Chris Alfieri joined. In 2017, there were some plagiarism accusations around the song "Mystery," which the band disputed. They put out a second album, "Kindred," in 2019, with a lead single titled "The End."
